Bolttech is an international digital protection and insurance business. This project aims to support them in transforming the way they sell device protection insurance on their e-commerce sites by designing an intuitive UIUX for their Shopify plugin and a user-friendly dashboard for merchants to manage and monitor warranty upsells on their e-commerce sites.
How I worked
This was an agency project, and my responsibility was to assist with problem framing, journey mapping, design, and testing. I conducted interviews with team members from operations and customer success, with guidance from the product manager at Bolttech, to understand their current approach for onboarding merchants and upselling other products using the Shopify plugin.
Once I had a clear understanding of the team's expectations for the project, I created user journey maps, information architecture, and user stories to present my design plan to the team. After the team approved the flow, I began designing the main pages and created a prototype for testing.
The tests were conducted internally with a few merchants closely connected to the team. They provided valuable insights on their preferences for guidance and assistance, as well as the metrics they would like to see on their performance dashboard, which differed from the assumptions made by the operations and customer success team. We appreciated the feedback and iterated on the designs before handing them over to the Bolttech development team for implementation.
The team felt empowered by the transparency of how I work and collaborate, as well as the clarity of all the documents and designs I delivered. They were amazed by the outcome, given the two-week time constraint of this project.
